Yes - Should not close because it shows examples of our national heritage. A lot of work and thought has gone into this and it is extremely interesting for locals and tourists alike. Maria Rose Austin

Yes - It’s important to keep these sites to inform visitors & locals alike ( youngsters, new residents, etc ) of the local area history , heritage & lifestyle. If it even preserves one or two jobs even part time that is only good too. John Anderson Yes - It would be a great loss if the HFM were to close, We are regular visitors to your beautiful towns having spent many happy days in Newtonmore, Kingussie and surrounding areas. Gerry Ladley & Gina Denholm, East Yorkshire Yes - What a sad state of affairs when we are throwing away our heritage and all the hard work and input from all connected with this Time Capsule. Jarvie Smith was the Kingussie Folk Museum Technician for many years and was responsible for the repair of the building fabric, artifacts & displays. He was employed (employed is the wrong word - it was a vocation) there in the 70's/80's built and cared for with Ross's help, designed most of the displays that are part of this wonderful Time Machine. They call this progress. What will happen to the building when the museum closes? Iain Smith, son of Jarvie Smith - My father would turn in his grave… Yes - Because it's part of history. Patricia Hibbs Yes -It is such a shame that Kingussie is set to lose its musuem. From an outsider’s point of view it would seem that the museum has been run down and left to decay over many years, despite all the hard work from the dedicated staff and vols involved. Heritage sites such as the museum need support to keep them going, maybe they won't ever be the worlds biggest money makers but in the year when many of us joined the "History Matters" campaign, surely something could be done to help Kingussie keep the heritage that Dr Isobel Grant wanted to be available to show the community, now and for future generations. Good luck to the staff and volunteers - for the challenges that the future seems to hold. Jo Hopkins Yes - Dr. Grant chose to work and build her museum in Kingussie. The collection belongs to the Township and the Authorities should recognise this fact and at the same time honour the wishes and memory of such a fine Historian. The Museum is as much a part of Kingussie as its Shinty Team, or should we send that to Newtonmore or Inverness as well? Perhaps that is the only way THEY could win. Kay and Mitch Buchanan |
