Organisers are staging 45 events across the Highlands, including three local performances.

This Saturday (September 6) sees the first of the Blas events take place, in the form of Ceilidh Teaghlaich, a family ceilidh featuring groups MacRimmon to the Power of Three, Còmhlan Luadh Bhaideanach, the Badenoch Walking Group, and Cairngorm Cèilidh Trail at the Highland Folk Park.

Concerts and events will be held at various locations around the grounds of the popular Highland Council-owned attraction in Newtonmore from 2pm onwards, and entry is free of charge.

In the second event, called Ceòl agus Ceò, Music and Steam, MacCrimmon to the Power of Three and members of the Cairngorms Cèilidh Trail group will perform a lively mix of songs and tunes as festival-goers enjoy a steam train journey from Aviemore to Boat of Garten.

The festival reaches its local finale next Thursday (September 11) at the Badenoch Centre in Kingussie with a performance entitled Guthan Gàidhealach, featuring the Fiona Mackenzie Band, the group Meantime, and Cape Breton fiddlers Andrea Beaton and Kimberley Fraser.
