The film, 'Hag of the Bridge', which premiered on Sunday as part of this year's annual Carrbridge Live Festival, was produced by 15-year-old Fergus Thom and Joanne Wood (13). Having spent 18 months filming and editing, they were delighted at the success of the hour-long movie's first public showing. "It has been a lot of hard work, but it was good fun, and judging from all the good comments we received, the audience seemed to have enjoyed the results," they said. Describing the film as a mystery thriller, Fergus explained that the main storyline revolves around the hag hunter and an investigation into a series of strange events in the village. With the movie produced from a garden shed converted into a makeshift editing studio, the young filmmakers recruited local youngsters to help write the script, while school mates and a handful of other village residents were persuaded to take part in the filming and make up the cast. Fergus, who hopes one day to make a career in film-making, has made a number of short films before, and was inspired to take on the challenge of making a longer film after being given a new video camera.
He and school pal, Joanne, have also set up their own website and produced their own posters to promote the premiere at Carrbridge Village Hall, which had both an afternoon matinée and evening showing. Ticket sales raised more than £200 for the Carrbridge village hall redevelopment fund. The Carrbridge Live Festival continues until Sunday, providing an eclectic combination of tradtional and contemporary music, live theatre, specatacular street carnival and jazz. Tickets for all festival events can be purchased by contacting the Carrbridge Live Festival Ticket Line on (01479) 841211, and on-line at http://www.thebooth.co.uk For further information and details of the Carrbridge Live Festival 2007 programme, visit http://www.carrbridge.com |
