Community voice is returned to Carrbridge
Carrbridge Community Council has formed for the first time since summer 2023.
The inaugural meeting of the new-look watchdog took place last night.
Local Highland councillor Russell Jones was delighted to see the village represented again by residents.
He said: ‘It is great to see enthusiastic members of our communities step up to become community councillors.
“Our community councils are vital to local democracy in the strath and the new councillors in Carrbridge are very keen to be a voice for their village and surrounding area.”
The first meeting was procedural and part of the formal process to set up the body again.
There were willing volunteers for the officer roles and Stewart McNeish and Kireen Johnston were proposed and seconded for chair and vice chair respectively.
Kay Caldwell accepted the role of secretary and Steven Malcolm is the treasurer.
The first business meeting of the community council will be held in Carrbridge Village Hall on Thursday 24 April at 7pm.
There are plans to set up a dedicated Carrbridge Community Council Facebook page to ensure as much community involvement as possible.
The community council members are Kay Caldwell, Martin Harrower, David Johnston, Kireen Johnston, Allyson Jones, Steven Malcolm, Stewart McNeish and Steve Richter.
