Calum Crake, a former Grantown Grammar School Dux graduated from the University of Oxford with First Class Honours in a Masters of Engineering Science. Calum is currently taking a gap year in London before beginning work with Evercore Partners in Mayfair. He is the son of Ken and Gillian, of Silverdale, South Street, Grantown, and grandson of George and Mabel Paton.
Alan Burgon, eldest son of David and Betty Burgon, Aviemore, graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with a BA in acting. Alan, a former pupil at Aviemore Primary and Kingussie High School, is currently working with the Dundee Rep Ensemble, and will be playing 'The Beast' in 'Beauty and the Beast', which runs from December 1 to January 3 next year at the Dundee Rep Theatre.
Lawrence Belleni, youngest son of Ann and Bruno Belleni, Craggan Mill House, Grantown-on-Spey, graduated with BSc (Hons) in Marine and Freshwater Biology from Glasgow University. Laurence, a former pupil of Grantown Grammar School, has recently returned from South Africa, where he has been doing research work for the South African Marine Predator Lab on great white sharks. Lawrence, who is the son of Ann and Bruno Belleni, hopes to study for a PhD next year when he returns from a year out travelling.
Elaine Barton graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Creative Writing from Roehampton University, and also won the Creative Writing Prize for Outstanding Academic Achievement. A former pupil of Deshar Primary School and Grantown Grammar School, she is now working with the Extant Youth Theatre Project in London. During the past year, she has worked with Yusaf Islam (formerly Cat Stevens) and Rob Shearman, author, playwright and screenwriter, best known for his scripts for the hit BBC show Dr Who.
Elaine Bruce, of Burnside Avenue, Aviemore, graduated with a BA in Cultural Studies of the Highlands and Islands from the UHI Millenium Institute. Elaine worked as a receptionist at Aviemore Health Centre before embarking on her course which included Scots and Gaelic language studies, the history of the clearances, military occupation, post-colonial literature and the hegemony of English. She now works with Highland Folk Museum in Kingussie and Newtonmore.
Amy Buttress, a former Grantown Grammar School pupil, graduated from the University of Abertay, Dundee, with a BA (Hons) in Computer Art. Amy is the daughter of artists Alice and Jeff Buttress, of Carrbridge.
Emily Campbell, daughter of Heather and Steven Campbell, Aviemore, graduated with a BA (Hons) in Retailing from the Glasgow Caledonian University. Emily is a former pupil of Kingussie High School.
Hazel Christie, daughter of Helen Christie, of Elgin and formerly Dalwhinnie, has graduated with MA (Hons) in Accountancy and Finance from the University of Aberdeen. Hazel is a former pupil of Kingussie High School.
Tracey Cruickshank, the youngest daughter of Peter and Heather Cruickshank of Grantown, a former Grantown Grammar pupil, graduated with a diploma in adult nursing from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. She is working in the cardiac theatre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
James Donald Christie, of Ben Alder Road, Dalwhinnie, a former Kingussie High pupil, graduated from Stirling University with a BSc with Honours in Software Engineering.
Rebecca Belleni, Craggan Mill House, Grantown-on-Spey, graduated BA (Hons) in media, theory and production from Paisley University. Rebecca, a former Grantown Grammar School pupil, also received an award from SRA London for scriptwriting.
Kay Ballantyne, a former Kingussie High School pupil, has graduated from the University of Dundee with a BSc honours degree in Dental Surgery and Medical Science. Kay is the daughter of James and Lois Ballantyne, of Millside Avenue, Kingussie.
Jamie Cockburn, a former Kingussie High School pupil, graduated BSc (First Class Hons) in Computing and Electronics from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. He is the son of Neil and Ameena Cockburn, Spey Avenue, Boat of Garten.
Roderick Andean graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Rural Resource Management from Edinburgh University. He is the son of Les Andean, of Aviemore, and Liz Edmondson, of Carrbridge.
Louise Cathro, former Grantown Grammar School pupil, graduated from The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, with a BA Hons in Hotel and Hospitality Management 2:1. Louise is the daughter of Moira Cathro, of Netherby, Mossie Road, Grantown.
Darren Crilley-Deery, Ellanwood Road, Carrbridge, has graduated with honours in Law from Edinburgh University. He is continuing his studies at the university whilst working towards attending a Diploma in Legal Practice. Darren is the son of Brendan Deery and Jacqueline Crilley, Carrbridge.
Charles Catto, Dulnain Bridge, was awarded the William J Ferguson Quaich for best fourth year student on the Rural Business Management course at the Scottish Agricultural College.
