Emergency services are currently in attendance at a lorry fire in a layby on the A9 by Aviemore.

The incident occurred just before 10pm between the Lynwilg and Granish junctions and the flames can be seen from neighbouring properties at High Burnside.

Traffic Scotland has reported that the Inverness-Perth road is closed in both directions with traffic being diverted through Aviemore.

Firefighters have been at the scene for the past hour attempting to bring the blaze under control.

Two fire appliances are in attendance.

There are unconfirmed reports from an eye witness that it is a whisky tanker which is ablaze.

Police Scotland have been contacted for more details.
