Warning of scam letters circulating in the Highlands

Police are urging the public to contact them over possible scam letters

Police in the Highlands have received reports from members of the public who have been sent scam letters trying to defraud them.

This particular scam involves alleged large sums of monies in Japan which are due to next of kin. These letters are fraudulent.

Police wish to remind members of the public to be vigilant and not to respond to such letters, never to hand over personal bank details or enter into any correspondence with such fraudulent schemes.

If members of the public think they have received such letters they can contact Wick police station on 01955 603551 for further advice.
