Police are offering travel advice ahead of events taking place in Inverness over the weekend

Northern Constabulary are welcoming the forthcoming events in Inverness this weekend and are offering travel advice to those attending, ahead of what is expected to be a busy weekend.

The series of concerts, beginning with JLS tomorrow night, will see thousands of attendees travel to the Northern Meeting Park in the city centre for the next four evenings. That coupled with the Inverness Caledonian Thistle Vs Celtic football match on Saturday, will result in a higher volume of traffic to and from the city and within the city centre.

Police would like to remind members of the public attending any of the events in the Northern Meeting Park that there is no dedicated parking at the venue. There is ample parking within the city centre but those coming to the events should try to car shareor where possible use public or privatetransport.

Motorists travelling in the city centre should be advised that there is expected to be an increased volume of traffic and pedestrians so they should drive carefully and allow extra time for journeys especially on the lead up to and the end of each event from Thursday to Sunday. Peak times are expected to be between 16:00- 19:00 hoursand 22:00 hours onwards each night.

Those travelling to Inverness, especially over the weekend, should leave plenty of time for their journeys as along with the events in Inverness the annual Thunder in the Glen motorbike festival is taking place in the Aviemore area.

Police hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable time at all of the events in our area.
