Traffic is being diverted from the A9 at Granish Junction, Aviemore after a Co-op delivery lorry went on fire there shortly after midnight.

Diversions have been put in place from the Granish junction through Carrbridge returning to the A9 at the Blackmount junction although some tall vehicles have been held back by police due to a 4.4m height restriction under a bridge on the diversion route.

The fire was still raging more than two hours after it broke out and the blaze has caused extensive damage to the road surface. The road will have to be repaired so the road is not expected to reopen until this afternoon at the earliest.
