People in Highland communities are being reminded that the deadline is looming if they wish to stand for community councils in 13 areas in the Highlands.
Within Strathspey and Badenoch, nominations are being invited from people seeking election to Cromdale and Advie, Grantown and Vicinity and Kingussie and Vicinity Community Councils.
The deadline for receiving nominations for election is 4pm on Tuesday, (August 15) and elections will take place on Thursday, September 14.
The need to hold interim elections has come about due to the resignation of some members which have brought the community councils down to below half of their memberships.
To stand for election you must be entered in the current electoral register for the community council area, or if aged 16 or 17 years old, have completed a Voter Registration application.
Nomination forms and copies of the scheme for the establishment of community councils can be downloaded from the Highland Council Website at www.highland.gov.uk/info/799/elections_and_voting/643/community_councils; obtained on request, by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phoning the council’s service centre on 01349 886606.
Completed nomination forms must be returned by 4pm on Tuesday to ward manager Liz Cowie, The Highland Council, Council Offices, Kingussie Courthouse, High Street, KINGUSSIE, PH21 1HR Email : email@example.com
The ward manager will accept e-mailed copies of the form, so long as it has been correctly completed and contains the signature of the candidate and witness.
